University Baptist Church is a people devoted to meeting the challenges of contemporary moral and spiritual life. We strive to be a compassionate Christian community. We continually invite ourselves and others to explore what it means to be a follower of Christ in the world today. We draw on Christian scripture, faith traditions, and our American Baptist heritage for guidance along our journey of faith.
We hear Christ calling us to loving, nurturing service to one another; offering sanctuary and resources to those who are poor, powerless, or in need; learning from our diversity; and working compassionately for peace and justice.
We are a welcoming and affirming congregation, delighting in our diversity of religious backgrounds, sexual orientations, races, ethnicities, economic situations, abilities, ages, genders and gender expressions.
People describe us as casual, warm, comfortable, progressive, creative, and respectful. Our gatherings blend traditional expressions with a focus on our contemporary world. We journey together in hope.
