Brothers and sisters,
This second installment of Salt and Light for this week is intended to report on two important issues where I believe we can lend help.
The first is to say that yesterday I was among a group of 30+ folks who listened in on a conference call led by Michael Ramos of the Church Council of Greater Seattle. “For Such a Time as This” is a network of organizations, including churches, that are working to respond to the immigration crisis in our country. More specifically, this call was a way to inform ‘sensitive locations’ (like places of worship) of some steps that can be taken to (1) discern whether such a place can become a ‘hub’ congregation and (2) identify ways to become a Rapid Response contributor to these ‘hub’ locations.
The second is information sent via email from the gathering earlier this week of the U District Conversation on Homelessness (UDCH). An immediate need (among many) is a request from Elizabeth Gregory Home for women’s pajamas, nightgowns, and robes. There are shower facilities at EGH, but often the women do not have clean nightclothes to put on afterward.
We will include discussion of both of these topics on Sunday as part of our worship gathering. I welcome and look forward to seeing you then.
Before we meet again, may you both receive and show forgiveness.
